Joost van Neerven, Wageningen University, The Netherlands
Joost van Neerven studied medical biology and defended his PhD at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1995 on the role of T cells in allergy. After this he has worked as research scientist in industry, ranging from biopharmaceutical (ALK-Abello, Denmark), biotechnology (Tanox Pharma, Macrozyme, and Bioceros, all in the Netherlands) to food companies (FrieslandCampina). In 2013 he was also appointed as special Professor of Mucosal Immunity at Wageningen University, in the department of Cell Biology and Immunology, where he is now employed. He has published over 100 papers, and his current research interests are (mucosal) immunology, allergy, (infant) nutrition, and milk.
